Kristi & Jared ~ May 13, 2011

Kristi and Jared's wedding day was absolutely perfect!  Even the rain could not stay around to ruin this special occasion.  The love that Kristi and Jared felt for each other radiated from every detail of the wedding day.  Every time I heard Jared say "I'll take care of it babe," I knew that Kristi had found a winner, even when it meant running to Mcdonalds for a last minute snack.  And the fact that Kristi did not stop smiling the entire day proved that Jared had found someone to love him forever.  We could not have been happier to have been a part of their day.  The vendors were amazing, the bridal party was a ton of fun, and we had a blast.  We are so thankful that Susannah with Alumbra Photography could capture it.  Here are a few memories from the day, to see more check out our "real weddings" tab. A Real Life Fairytale

Every little girl dreams of being a princess.  We play dress up with tiaras, we watch Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and Snow White.  Our barbies and baby dolls can be dressed up like princessses.  The word princess and the idea that we too can be princesses is handed to us on a silver platter.  Then we grow up and we find out that, yes, there are real princessess and for some it is not just a fairy tale.  Today every little girl's dream came true for Catherine Middleton.  So boys, if you were wondering why so many of us woke up today at four and five in the morning to watch a wedding, there is your answer.  The same reason you watch the NFL, NBA, and MLB drafts, drove us to wake up early and watch the girl next door become a Duchess and a Princess all in one day.
The Royal Wedding definitely lived up to all the hype.  Kate looked absolutely stunning in her Sandra Burton designed gown with sleeves, lace overlay, and a beautiful embroidered train, and William looked equally handsome in his military dress.  Kate and William looked like the perfect pair at the front of Westminister Abbey.  The whole wedding was filled with rich British tradition.  When the couple shared their vows, women all over the world let their hopeless romantic side peak through.  They were beautiful and Kate sounded so lovely with her petite voice breaking through all the grandeur.  After the ceremony the newly wedded couple traveled through the streets of London in an open stage coach, just like a real life Cinderella and Prince Charming.  Then approximately fifity five minutes later the couple emerged on to the balcony of Buckingham Palace and shared the infamous kiss.  It was short sweet and to the point.  Of course a few minutes later they got a second chance to show off their adoration for each other to the world with a second, slightly longer, kiss.
If you were wondering if Kate followed bridal tradition, the answer is yes!  She did wear something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue.  The something old and borrowed was the 1936 diamond Cartier Halo tiara from the Queen, that Kate wore in her hair.  The something new were Kate's diamond earrings which were a gift from her father and mother and were based on the family's new coat of arms.  And lastly the something blue was a piece of ribbon that was sown into the dress' lining to complete the tradition.
So ladies, Prince William may have found his Princess, but there is still hope.  Prince Harry looked rather handsome himself, and good news, he is single! Here are some pictures from the big day:

The "LGN" Workout

Whether you are getting ready to go to a friend's wedding or you are going to be the bride, we all want to look great in our slim new dress, or for the honeymoon.  Spring is finally here and that means bikini season is just around the corner.  I think we all love it as much as we dread it.  We all make New Year's resolutions to slim down for it, but the key is sticking to it.  In order to do that you have to find a work out that works for you.  Slimming down doesn't have to mean slaving at the gym five days a week for hours on end.  And let's face it, not all of us were born to be marathon runners.  So here are 5 fun and different ways to work out.

#1 ZUMBA:
One of my number one favorite ways to shed a few pounds.  Zumba is on the rise with classes being offered all around the city of Lexington.  If you love to dance and shake it, attend one of these Zumba classes.  They keep you constantly moving and in return you burn a lot of calories. If you are shy don't be afraid to attend, there are usually women of all ages. It's fun, it's fast, and it's sweaty so don't forget that bottle of water. Here is a link to classes around Lexington: http://www.zumba.com/parties/search/search:1/address:Lexington+ky/distance:25/unit:m

#2 Nintendo Wii, Xbox Kinect, Playstation Move: Usually when someone says video games, girls cringe because all they can think about are the hours a certain boyfriend spent mesmerized in front of the television screen.  However, recently video games have been marketed to women.  These new video game systems have interactive work out games.  Personally I have only used the Wii fit but it was extremely fun.  They actually even have a Zumba game that I have had my eye on for quite some time now.  These new games will keep your workout exciting.

#3 Hiking: Hiking is another fun way to get some exercise.  Now that the weather is finally beautiful, it would be nice to get some fresh air.  You can even get your significant other off the couch and get them in on the action.  Locally we have Raven Run, and not too far away we have other state parks that offer miles of trails.  Even Veteran's Park, in one of the local neighborhoods, offers trails where dogs are welcome.  Get out and enjoy that sunshine.  Maybe you will even get a little tan while you are at it.

#4 Kickboxing: One of my friends talked me into taking a kickboxing class with her in a previous summer.  I was hesitant at first because when I thought of kickboxing it made me think of The Karate Kid.  When we got there they wrapped our hands in tape.  By then I think I was looking at my friend like "what is going on."  I have never been so sore in my life.  After that class I knew I had gotten a great work out.  Kickboxing is said to burn 350 to 450 calories in an hour!  I'm not sure that I did a single thing right the whole evening, and I'm pretty sure that the big buff guys taking the class, thought that my five foot version of punching the punching bag was adorable, but it was a lot of fun and I would definitely do it again.

#5 Swimming Laps: Now I can't swim a lap for the life of me.  My boyfriend tried to teach me the correct way to swim but all that knowledge I learned in swimming lessons seems to have left me completely.  However, the few times that I have gone to the pool to swim I have left feeling so skinny.  I know that the effects are not instant or anything but it makes me feel so good about myself.  Swimming also has low impact on your knees and shins, and is a good alternative to running.  In half an hour, if you swim a mile, you can burn 900 calories!  That's enough right now for me to go grab my swimsuit and get to it.

Hopefully one of these ways will be enough to to get you up and newly motivated.  Now your only question is what does LGN stand for?  Well to find out you'll have to ask me in person!

What is a Wedding Consultant Anyway?

We have officially entered a new year which is fitting since it is also the start of our new business!

The holidays are such a wonderful time to be engaged.  In fact many young couples just took the next step in their relationships in the last couple of weeks.  After all the excitement of the holidays and the elation of the congratulations and sparkling addition to your left hand have died down, you may be left wondering, "well what do I do now?"  Many brides feel overwhelmed with all the decisions that are to be made, and even the ones who know exactly what they want are still bewildered about how to get it.  So many people are offering their assistance, but you are not even sure what you want them to do.

So I thought a fitting first post of the new year would be to explain the role of a wedding consultant.  The mystery of what you are investing in and why you should invest in us is about to be revealed
.
A wedding consultant can take on many different roles i.e. facilitator, mediator, friend, sounding board, time saver, money saver, etc.  Our main job is to make your life during your engagement period easier and more enjoyable.  There is so much time and effort involved in searching for vendors in the area, calling each one, meeting with each one, deciding which one would be the best and easiest to work with, and then making a decision.  As your wedding planner we will do this for you.  We have already talked to and worked with many vendors in the area and have met some really awesome people.  It is also to your benefit that a Wedding Consultant will be a return customer for these vendors, whereas a bride is a one time deal.  Vendors will be more apt to work hard for someone who will be sending them brides constantly than for just one bride.
Although some brides may think it is not in their budget to hire a wedding consultant, they can often save you money and can work with your budget to make sure you are staying on track.  They can give you advice on the best places to save money and where to alot a little extra cash.  Wedding consultants can go with you to make decisions on dresses and party favors, and can be an objective third party if things get a little heated with someone at home.
There are many things a Wedding Consultant can do for you, but the main thing is they make your and your mother's life much more enjoyable during the engagement.  This is a time when you should be getting closer to your fiance, laughing, and making memories; not being stressed out about all the details.  Especially on the day of your wedding you want to be able to enjoy and savor every second.  Having a Wedding Consultant to make sure everyone is in their place, and does their job, and being the go-to person for vendors and others to bring problems to, allows you to do this.

So to answer what you are investing in:  bottom line is more time for yourself and your fiance, peace of mind, and a brand new best friend with a bottomless pit of advice and ideas for your wedding.  What could be better?
